My name is Nicholas Sinlock, I’m a writer, skeptic, programmer-in-training, and general lover of science.   I write about the things which fascinate me in my life: technology; science; politics; and gaming.   I find that skepticism and critical thinking are useful to understanding the world around us.   As Carl Sagan described it, Skepticism is the use of our baloney detectors on various claims, in an attempt to dicern how likely it is to be true.   To borrow a quote from Spinoza, and Skeptic Magazine, “I have made a ceaseless effort not to ridicule, not to bewail, not to scorn human actions, but to understand them.”   Put another way, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
